Here’s my opinion, Jared Loughner is a mentally disturbed person who was and is a danger to society. I believe that someone who can commit the act that he committed would eventually find a trigger point that makes him/her do a heinous act. In this case it was a political trigger, but we can not blame the political incivility for this. Yes, we are all sick of it, yes it is just posturing and sensationalism, yes it takes our attention away from real discussion on serious issues…..but it is not the cause of this horrible act.

Thoughts and Uncategorized 2:57 am
The Cape Code Wind Farm project has suffered from a classic case of “Not In My Back Yard”. Massachusetts has produced a number of politicians in favor of green energy and concerned about climate change, but despite that the Cape Wind project has been stuck in mud. We’ll today it might finally be unstuck. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar approved the 130-turbine Cape Wind project. This is the first offshore wind farm for the US and a good sign that Obama was serious about renewable energy.

Landesberg-Boyle in The Christian Science Monitor Friday, Apr 2 2010
Dr. Jill Landesberg-Boyle 2:59 am
Recently, President Obama has been talking about the importance of community colleges to retrain unemployed works for new careers. His goal is for an additional 5 million community college graduates by 2020 and he’s willing to fund it with a $12 billion over the next 10 years. Why has the president focused on community colleges?
Community Colleges are cost effective. An article from The Christian Science Monitor focuses on this, with figures showing how much is saved in living expenses compared to universities. Also, community colleges are increasingly popular for mid-career workers. FKCC was featured in this article, here’s an excerpt:
These colleges have always been market-driven, defined by their location and the demands of their particular communities. Florida Keys Community College, for example, reflects its unique geography. With the slogan, “Island Living, Island Learning,” FKCC has a national reputation in marine engineering and diving technology. Its enrollment has grown over 10 percent during the past year, with an expected 2,000 students this fall.
“Our small classes of 11 to 12 students, the emphasis on teaching, and our lower costs make us an attractive alternative to a large university,” says Jill Landesberg-Boyle president of FKCC. “I am proud that our students who transfer to four-year universities have higher GPAs than the students who started at that university.”

Go Patrick Kennedy Wednesday, Mar 10 2010
Thoughts 11:41 pm
I just heard a piece of Rep. Patrick Kennedy‘s statements about the press covering trivial topics rather than the critical items facing the nation today, such as the war in Afghanistan. Let me be clear, I am not weighing in the argument for bringing the troops home. Instead, I am supporting the passionate outcry from Kennedy on the irresponsible job the press is doing.
It was refreshing to listen to him yell at the press for the horrible job they are doing, however in many cases we only have our self to blame. I fully agree that what we see in the news today is trivial and useless. I don’t watch the news anymore, but I know I’m the minority. We all should demand more of the press, that is when we’ll see a change.
Lindsey Vonn on Sports Illustrated Friday, Mar 5 2010
Thoughts controversy, Lindsey Vonn, Sports Illustrated 1:53 am
I was reading an interview with Lindsey Vonn in Time magazine and became very curious when they asked her opinion of the controversy around her cover photo on Sports Illustrated. Her response indicated that she thought the controversy was ridiculous, so I had to take a look for my self. We’ll it is ridiculous, people need to get a life. In investigating this “controversy” I saw the results of a quick poll, where over 90% of the voters agree with me.
Oh…I did see her win the gold, she was great!!
